STANCES: Demonstrate and explain all with the ability to teach them.
SELF_DEFENSE TECHNIQUES: Must demonstrate at least twenty variations.

To earn your Black Belt you will have had to demonstrate your ability to work with others. Show respect and humility, while showing you are of high character. You will be given your Black Belt in a ceremony, which will consist of repeating the Black Belt Code of Honor and the passing of the belts.
COMMENT: In the old days it was tradition to take your Sensei to dinner and set with them for a long period of time to discuss different things, so that Sensei can get to know you even better.

THE PASSING OF THE BELT CEREMONY
When your name is called, you will walk up and face Sensei.
You will bow to Sensei and he will return your bow.
Take up Seiza position in front of Sensei facing him.
Your new black belt will be placed on the floor between the two of you.
You will stand and remove your existing belt, folding it carefully and placing it on the floor between you and your new rank..
You will then return to seiza position and your black belt will be placed in your hands (both hands out palms up).
You are to keep your hands out while repeating the Black Belt Oath.
Then you will do seiza rei (saying thank you in Japanese)
Sensei will stand and you will do the same. Holding your hands still palms up with belt.
Sensei will take the belt from you and tie it on you for the first time.
After your new rank is put on you and tied you will bow to Sensei and then face the class for presentation (in which time the class will bow to the new Black Belt).

THIS CEREMONY IS ONLY DONE A COUPLE TIMES EACH YEAR.
NOTE:  Remember that a Black Belt MUST hold high standards and be of strong moral character. Stand out, yet blend in. No matter where you are at or what you are doing you must show yourself as a Black Belt, which means you will always do and give your best, and look for the good in everyone.

A true Black Belt will stop a conflict before anyone gets hurt.
