This is an active approach to challenging prejudice, stereotyping, or any attitude or feeling that results in unfair treatment of a child because of his or her identity. Our goal is to encourage children to have the ability to determine what is fair & the confidence to stand up for it in their daily lives as well as in the future through Martial Arts training. Martial Arts instills a genuine appreciation for others & their unique qualities along with respect, self- confidence, self-control, more focus in school, street-smarts and physical fitness. "Out of the box thinking" is encourage so they will not be cornered in certain situations. We encourage children to value differences and view them as strengths. To promote this concept, we show positive regard & respect for each family. We acknowledge a primary responsibility to develop a partnership between the family and DLR Martial Arts in a way that supports and enhances each child's development. Working together as a team we strive to give each child the best gift possible - a positive sense of themselves. | The first thing that is taught is "RESPECT!". To respect all people, places and things (seen and unseen) and also respect for the greatest country in the world: The UNITED STATES of AMERICA. Most of all to respect themselves. A child can not respect others unless he/she respect themselves first. DLR Martial Arts believes that each child is a unique individual. We are sensitive to each child's social, emotional, intellectual & physical needs. We support the National Association for the Education of Young Children's commitment to developmental, individual, & age appropriate practices. We achieve a hands on curriculum of Martial Arts and Educational activities supported by a physical environment that is safe, comfortable & stimulating. |
