CAMP S.A.G.O.E

The Senior Adult Guyanese Outdoor Experience (SAGOE) was launched in September 1996. After successful programs in '96 and '97 SAGOE has established itself as a most important addition to our programming.

For many years, the annual retreat was held at Camp George, situated on Maple Lake in Beautiful Parry Sound and nestled among a matured treed lot with a private waterfront and lots of hiking grounds, outdoor games grounds, camp fire areas and places to just sit and relax.

The camp atmosphere, the outdoors, the camp-fires activities and the camaraderie created a spiritual feeling. Our ability  to relax and to really get to know each other was enhanced by sharing the out-of-doors

Many members were disappointed when camp,  was cancelled in 2005. But
this disappointment did not deter some members and executive from looking
towards a continuation of one of our most enjoyable and memorable programs.

Last spring some members visited
Bark Lake , inestled in the spectacular Haliburton Highlands, with a view to  using the facilities as our new campsite and they were very impressed. The facility has been in operation since 1948. and caters to youths, corporate groups and social groups such as ours.

This year's  camping trip will run from
August 24 to August 26, 2007. The cost  is $260.00 and includes transportation, accommodation and meals. Please make cheques or money orders payable to Senior Guyanese Friendship Association, and mail to: James Bovell, 107 Mossbrook Crescent, Scarborough, ON M1W 2W8.

Please keep SAGOE alive!
