Star Trek Episode Countdown
Synopsis: Enterprise's mission is called off, when they seemily cause an accident that destroyed an entire colony. However Daniels (a time traveler from the future) tells Archer that Enterprise was not the cause of the accident. That it was the Suliban, who made it appear it was Enterprise's fault.
Over All:
An outstanding episode, that changed my view on the whole
series, It makes me think that Enterprise might end up being just as good as TNG or DS9.
Pros:
- This was an awesome end of season cliffhanger, especially
considering it was the first season. No other Trek series as dared to have a cliffhanger on the first season, and this was quite awesome.
- This so far is the height of the temporal cold war. It's really interesting now. Especially the character of Daniels.
- It also brings great depth to the Suliban, making them a very interesting advesary.
- This episode shows the crew as the expert starfleet officers they should be, and no the childish amatuers we've seen through out the first season. In the first part they pull off an attack on the Suliban ship and expectly board the ship take the proof they need, then leave. And in the second part they expectly escape from the clutches of the Suliban, scenes that were very exciting to watch.
- Through out the series they try to make Archer seem cool, by giving him lines such as "I'll knock you on your ass." but he always ends up sounding like a dork. However in this episode, they actaully pull it off. When Archer successfuly travels back to the past, and beats the crap out of Silik and says, "I said, you're an ugly bastard." It actaully does sound cool.
Cons:
- I was disapointed that they didn't actaully explain anything more
about the temporal cold war. The whole temporal cold war thing still has that X-Files feel to it. In this episode alot happens yet nothing is explained. We still don't know what the temporal cold war is about, and we still don't know who this mystery man is, who gives the Suliban they're orders, although we find out that he's from the 28th century.
- I wonder if the writters even though whats going on. In the episode
"Cold Front" Silik saves the Enterprise from tottal disaster, yet here he trys to cancel Enterprise's mission, then he trys to capture Archer. "Cold Front" made it kind of hazy who was the good guy and who was the bad guy, but here they made it quite clear.
- It seems a bit silly that the entire timeline would change just because Archer wasn't there. The future can not be so dependant on just one man.
