1. What type of paint and type of reflective bead is required? We usually use TTP 1952 D, Type I and II paint. The airport bead is TTB 1325, Gradation A, Type III. Another type of bead is TTB 1325, Gradation A, Type I, which is also used on airport markings, however, it is primarily a road bead. 2. When can Sellers Construction start? We are very flexible with scheduling and will work with the airport manager's time constraints. 3. What weather conditions are best suited for runway painting? Most paint manufacturers require a minimum ambient temperature of 45 degrees with low wind velocity and humidity. 4. Can a runway be painted at night? Yes, however, there are drawbacks. Lack of sunshine prevents the warming of asphalt which speeds the drying process. Cooler temperatures at night also delay the drying process. And, finally, there is a chance for higher humidity at night sometimes followed by heavy dew in the early hours of the morning. Both of which delay the drying of paint. Not until the sun rises does the paint begin to dry. 5. What type of equipment does your company use? All of our equipment is airless. Airless provides for more even paint distribution which produces sharper, less fuzzy lines. |
