BAND BIOGRAPHY THINGYS COMING SOONISH!
The band unofficially started back in the summer
of 2001 when Ross "Spud" Stanway, Ryan
O'Meara and former singer Xandria Horton began to
play music together. Unfortunately the band had
already had their disagreements before a first
gig, after differing opinions as to which music
to play and how to stop Spud from constantly
drumming. Later in the year they decided to give
things another try and found bass guitarrist
Aaron Mills wandering the streets (well not
really but hey!). They played their first gig
together under the temporary name of "Making
Up Numbers" at "Battle of the Bands"
at Ilfracombe College (see gigs
page)
with only a whole practice and a half under their
belt. With Christmas looming near the band
decided another gig should be played, but again
differences between them caused a split and the
band was left singerless.
Whilst in search
of a new singer the band also began to write
their own songs, and first attempts were well
crap but soon things began to improve. Ian
Canavan joined singing lead vocals (or possibly
just going very red on stage), and new bass
guitarist Jon Collins signed up when Aaron moved
to second guitar. This left the band wondering on
whether a new name was in order for a fresh new
start. After endless lunchtimes in the common
room thinking of ideas 'Self Pity' was found on a
poster somewhere, and er, taken!
Before another
gig could be played Ian quit! The search for a
new singer is currently underway, with Aaron
taking over for the moment.
