Title: Complete Total Boredom
Author: Katie
Complications:
End Result: Don't really know, since it's brand new
Happy with the Result: Sure, unless my mother discovers it(or father, I suppose)
Date Done: Feb. 27, 2004, at about 6:30 p.m
Story: Well, I had my ears pierced the first time when I was in sixth grade, after a couple years of begging my parents (they finally decided I was responsible enough; that's still up for debate). And going on two months ago, my mother let me have my ears pierced a second time. Both times were at Claire's, and the same day I got them done a second time, I found out that piercing guns are horrible for ears, and so resolved to never use a gun again.

Anywho, I was considering piercing my cartilage, but I am a total wimp about pain, so I resolved to pierce my lobes again. Once my parents were out of the house, I gathered up a needle/studs, a bag of ice, cotton balls, rubbing alcohol, etc. I cleaned the needle with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol, then held the ice on my ear for about thirty seconds; I then proceeded to get the needle about halfway through my left ear, about where you would put a third earring. I wasn't too worried about this because I have done this much with a safety pin when I was bored late at night. After that, I paused to put ice on it for about five minutes--like I said, I'm a wimp. I pushed it the rest of the way through my ear, pausing every now and then to ice it. The end result was that I had a needle sticking out of my ear, obviously.

Previously, I had planned to use some fishing line to hold the hole, but I couldn't get the needle that far in--my body has never cooperated with me. So, after some more ice, I pulled the needle out, and tried to put a stud in. I dealt with the amount of blood that chose to gush out, then found a different stud, and put it in the half of the hole that remained. I basically had to re-pierce the second half, but I've done this several times with my first holes, since I've almost let them close up probably about five times in six years. I then put the back of the stud on, and viola, I was finished. I didn't do the right ear, since I'm already pushing my luck; I may wait to finish the job until I'm 18, about three and a half months, because then I can claim I had it done "professionally."

I intend to pierce my cartilage soon, for at least the reason that that can more easily be hidden from the parental units.
