Complications: Closed once, had to repierce it again other then that nothing
End Result: It healed but then closed from having the ring out too long so repierced it, but its still there without it being infected

Date Done: 1/23/03 and late to mid-Febuary sometime
Story: I wanted my lip pierced for about 3 months, my parents were willing to pay for me to get it done professionally, but I couldn't because you can't do anything in Minnesota. I Decided I really wanted the piercing done, so I looked up a lot of information on it on the internet, and asked around people in my school who have piercings.
So on January 23, I decided I did not want to wait until I was 18, or 16 in my surrounding states, so I did it myself. I had my needle and everything and marked the spot on my bottom lip [where] I wanted it. I decided the bottom left side of my lip, so I could still play my flute in band. Anyways, after I marked the spot I numbed it with ice for about 30 mins to an hour, and started sliding my needle in there and I could barely feel it. It took awhile to get the needle thru cuz I didn't really know what to do.
After the numbing went down it hurt a little, but by then the needle was already all the way thru and I had the ring in. It only bleed a little, but I expected that, so I wasn't too worried. The next day it swelled up a lot for about 4-7 days. My sister told me I had a bit of a lisp because of the swelling. About a month or two later I thought it was healed, so I took it out for an hour to do a american history movie - don't want to go into details about that - and I discovered that it closed on me, I was so pissed off and had to wait another week for another new hollow needle to come in.
The second time it hurt a bit more, because I didn't numb it at all, but it was in the same spot. It swelled again, but for only two or three days with no noticable lisp. Thats my story, e-mail me if u have any questions or anything, I'm hoping to do my eyebrow once or twice next if I can't find anyone to do it.
