| League Rules (Very Important) Updated 8/10/08 |
| 1.) All rules from the Games Workshop "Living Rulebook" will be used in the League. If for whatever reason, Games Workshop updates the rules to a newer edition, those rules will not go into effect until the following season. It is advised that all participants obtain a copy of the Living Rulebook. You have 2 Options. Download it from this site by clicking on the link to the left or download it from the Blood Bowl section of the Games Workshop site. The file is in .pdf format. If you are unable to use files with this extension send me an email me by clicking here and we will work something out. ____________________________________________________________ 2.) Star players - used exactly as it is described in the current Living Rulebook. Unlike previous versions of Blood Bowl, they are solely used in a mercenary type role on a game to game basis. You may no longer hire a star player for an indefinate period of time in a league. Note that ONLY the star players listed in the back of the living rulebook may be used in the league and not any that are in additional Blood Bowl supplements such as Citadel Journal. ____________________________________________________________ 3.) Names - All Teams and Players on the Roster must be named. ____________________________________________________________ 4.) Preseason - A preliminary preseason tournament will be held before the start of the season each year. It will be a brief three-round tournament consisting of a minimum of 6 teams and a maximum of 8 teams. The teams will be selected based on their experience meaning that admission to the tournament will take priority as the following: 1.) New players 2.) Experienced players with new teams 3.) Experienced players with experienced teams (lowest to highest ranked) The previous Blood Bowl champion team will never be allowed to participate in the preseason tournament. In the case of an odd number of participants, the Blood Bowl runner up from the previous season will also be excluded (or the highest ranked team). During the finals of this tournament, the winner will receive 100,000 gold while the runner up will receive 50,000. Note that these winnings are the winnings... not in addition to normal winnings. ____________________________________________________________ 5.) Regular Season and Playoff Structure - Updated 8/19/08 - The season will be 8 games in length ending in a Playoff system. The playoffs will include the top 3 ranked teams from each division with the top team in each division receiving a first round bye (where injured players will be healed and whatnot). Ranking is decided by, obviously, Win-Loss record, then tiebreakers (If Team A beat Team B during the season, then Team A is ranked higher), and finally Team Value. ____________________________________________________________ 6.) Challenges - Any exhibition or challenge games that are played during the regular season will not be counted in any way. ____________________________________________________________ 7.) Reporting - Coaches must report game details to the Blood Bowl league commissioner after their games. This can be done by sending an email to Keith or by posting information on the All our Games message board. This information must include a score, player statistics (completions, casualties, touchdowns), injuries and effects (miss a game, niggling injury, or stat decrease), winnings, and an updated Team Value (very important - see page 25 of the Living Rulebook.) ____________________________________________________________ 8.) Dynasty League - Teams will be able to return next year with their roster and continue a dynasty. However, a tenure of 3 seasons is the maximum for any player. After a player's third year, he must be retired and can be included as an assistant coach for the following season only. A player may also be retired early when making the second season roster. The player's career is considered over and just like stated above, may be used as an assistant coach for the following season only. ____________________________________________________________ 9.) WYSIWYG - Just to make sure everyone knows, all miniatures must be suitably represented. Conversions and limited proxies are perfectly fine and dandy however they must be revealed to the opponent before the game and resemble to some extent what the player type is. Just to answer one participants question, a mascot can be used but has no effect on the game! Head Coaches, Cheerleaders, Wizards, and Apothecaries are not required to be represented by miniature or counter, but may if the coach wishes, however, these must be revealed to the opponent at the beginning of the match. ____________________________________________________________ 10.) Player Numbers - All models must have a number whether painted on the miniature or painted on the miniature's base if the miniature is not fully painted. The opponent must be able to distinguish your players from one another. This also prevents players from cheating when scoring star player points. If a situation occurs where an opponent cannot differentiate between players, it will be decided randomly. ____________________________________________________________ 11.) Living Rulebook Miscellaneous Rules - Inducements, Spiralling Expenses, Special Play Cards, and Journeyman rules will apply as normal. Note that several other changes have been made in the living rulebook, such as rules for Apothecaries. Also, Team Wizards are now hired on a per-game basis. ____________________________________________________________ 12.) Extra Money! Yay! - Due to the changes in the generation of winnings in each game, which we feel has been reduced due to the gate changes, beginning in week four of the 2007 season, each team will receive 10,000 gold bonus. A team will not receive this team if they forfeit. A team winning by way of forfeit will not receive their opponents bonus in this way either. As stated in the Blood Bowl rulebook, the Blood Bowl champion will also receive the 20,000 gold bonus per game while holding the trophy. This is in addition to the bonus league stipend. These bonus earnings are excluded from tournament, exhibition, and post-season play of any kind. ____________________________________________________________ 13.) Probowl - At the end of the regular season and after the conclusion of the playoffs and the Blood Bowl, a special 'Pro Bowl' will be held. This will pit two teams of the best players against each other. (Red vs. Blue for the lack of better names.) The Blue team will consist of the 16 best players from Division A teams and the Red team will consist of the 16 best players from Division B teams. As of right now, there will be no limit to which type of players will be included. (So if it ends up being 16 Ogres or 12 Blitzers, that is perfectly ok.) By 16 "best" players, I mean the players with the most earned star player points during the season. Coaches for the two teams will come first by volunteers from the two respective 'divisions' and if more than one coach bids for the job, then we will decide by dice rolls. Star player points accrued during the game will count but injuries will not! So there is no downside for your players participating, it is merely a benefit gained for being an outstanding player. The MVPs for the game will be given out to the players who have the most star player points during the game on each team.. Those players' teams who win the game (i.e. Eagles) will receive 50,000 gold pieces for the next season. _____________________________________________________________ 14.) Player Holding the Ball Clarification - A rule that has caused quite a bit of confusion due to its vague description in the rulebook is what the player with the ball can and cannot do. So, clarifying it with the Rulez boyz over at Games Workshop, it has been decreed that the player holding the ball: - Has no tackle zone and follows all rules for players without tackle zones. - Cannot assist (as that player has no tackle zones) - Cannot throw a block. _____________________________________________________________ All of the above rules are subject to change. Rules are subject to discussion. Please contact the commissioner or league officers for clarification. |
