M A Y
May is not quite grown up, still clinging to Spring,
But grown up enough to want to do her own thing.
She's grown past the stage of snow, ice and sleet,
And now she's standing steadily on her own two feet.

She even left behind those cool April showers,
And now she's dressed up in bright green and flowers.
She is about ready to graduate and leaven Spring behind.
She's preparing to leaf out in delightful sprout and vine.

She knows that June is coming and will leave her behind,
But that's OK with May 'cause leaving is on her mind.
It was she who began to warm up the earth
And prepare it to complete its rebirth.

"That's just growth," said May.  "That's just good progress.
I've made it possible for earth to wear her brand new dress."
It's all in God's plan that we cntinue to grow,
Leaving behind our childish ways; there's more to know.

So we grow up in Christ and we can be sure
That, like May, we'll grow, blossom and mature.
As we continue to sprout new growth "in Him,"
Our finest fruit will appear and by harvest fill the bin.

May's not looking backward, but ahead she set her face.
She is finished with the past, she ran a good race.
She's anticipating the future and her long vacation,
Knowing that June will be building on her foundation.

May will pass the baton to June.
