The anime series "Heart" is about Kazumi, who had a heart failure when she was only 5 years old. At that same time, Shinji, a 15 year old, was hit and killed by a car. His heart, was donated to Kazumi. Kazumi and her 3 brothers had lived with their uncle after their parents were killed in a plane crash only days before Kazumi's heart failure. But after Toshi turned 20, with his siblings, he left their uncles' place, who himself did not have a good income. It was when Kazumi turned 15 that flashbacks of memories she never had before began...

Kazumi Tanaka (voice: Seiko Karakama)
15 years old. When she was only 5 years old, she had a heart failure, and had a heart donated to her. She lives with her 3 brothers. |

Toshi Tanaka
(voice: Shintaro Tokigura)
22 years old He is the oldest brother in the Tanaka family. He takes care of all 3 of his younger siblings on his own. He works as a street constructioner. |

Kenta Tanaka
(voice: Jun Kudo)
18 years old He is the second oldest brother. He attends the same high school with Kazumi, but doesn't enjoy school. He works part time at a fast food restaurant. Kenta doesn't plan to go to college even though Toshi insists that he does. |

Ichiro Tanaka (voice:
Yuji Nakamoto)
3 years old The youngest brother of Kazumi, although not related by blood. When Toshi was 20, he found him abandoned and decided to adopt him when he was only a year old. He pretty much likes to eat anything he can get his hands on. |

Minami Miyaki (voice:
Setsuko Kawakami)
15 years old A good friend of Kazumi. Frequently helps baby-sit Ichiro. |

Goro Mori (voice:
Hiroto Sato)
doctor Doctor of Kazumi. He was a friend of Kazumi's father, and often help support the Tanaka family after their parents were killed in a plane crash. |

Shinji Yamanda (voice:
Heitaro Furutaka)
On his way home from school, he was hit and killed by a car. His heart was donated to Kazumi. He was 15 years old at the time. |
