FBLA History
FBLA was developed in 1937 by Dr.
Hamden L. Forkner from Columbia University as a concept of educating
students and adults in business. The first official high
school chapter was chartered in Johnson City, Tennessee, on February
3, 1942, and the first PBL collegiate chapter was organized in Iowa
in 1958. The Professional Division--originally called the
Alumni Division--began in 1979, while, the newest addition to
FBLA-PBL, the Middle Level chapter (for students grades 5-9) was
created in 1994.
Sullivan East
High School FBLA
In 2007, Sullivan East High School
began its local FBLA chapter for the first year, converting from BPA
(Business Professionals of America). Since the 2007-2008
school year, Sullivan East FBLA has participated in several local
community events and volunteer efforts, and entered at the state
level of the FBLA competitive events.
