I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1983 from Kutztown University.
I worked as a Program Counselor at the Bachelor's level from 1983 until 1992 in group homes for mentally disabled adults. My work here dealt mostly with chronic mental illness, including diagnoses of Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, Eating Disorders, and others.
I received my Masters in Education in Community Counseling in 1992 from Lehigh University.
I worked as a Mental Health Professional from 1992 until 2005 in various programs at KidsPeace, including Outpatient therapy, Afternoon Treatment Program, Provider 50 Services - Behavior Specialist and Mobile Therapist. My work here provided much experience with children and families, addressing issues of ADHD, Conduct Disorders, Depression, Bipolar Disorders, Gender Identity Disorders, Parenting, Borderline Personality Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, Tourette's, and others.
I am currently working toward State Licensure, taking some necessary additional courses, if you can believe that! I am also working part-time as a Mobile Therapist/Behavior Specialist while I build my private practice. Additionally, I am working on this website to include some helpful information for the general public, other counselors, and my clients. (I have a second bachelor-level degree, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix, which comes in handy for the work on the website.)
I hope this information has been helpful in letting you know a little bit about me, my experience, current projects, and maybe even my need to have many things going to keep me busy. Look for my blog in the near future, where I will keep things updated in terms of how I am progressing as well as a tool to communicate directly with my site visitors. Thanks for visiting!
