It's a Gift To Be Simple

The team is now 70 years Old and what a 70 years it has been. Many owners, three super bowls and a move latter the team turns to Sporting a new Retro look, a new version of an old uniform. Boy it seemed like a simple change that would be used only for home games only for a year to commemorate one of the oldest professional teams around would be of little interest to Washingtonians. Yet, Everyone seems revitalized and excited as two players sport the new old favorites and they even strut as the press took snap shots of players. ( One woman in the audience even whistled when viewing the players in uniform.) Burgundy was a true Burgundy and not res, white is thankfully absent, Gold, not yellow, reigned supreme. Someone has opened up the old house and a breath of fresh air has flowed thought reawakening sleeping giant. The grandiose reawakening surprisingly did not work as we went through the motions of grieving for a bad team ( more on that later). The new coaches, new stadium, the many free agents did not make people stop longing for the days of Gibbs. It made us long for the past even more. For us, the new uniforms are a reaffirmation that Snyder is a true Redskins fan. H e brought back something necessary for the fans, a celebration and reverence for the past as we move to the future.
