  Jeffrey  Bornstein is a descendant of Icek Mendel BORNSZTAJN, born 1865 in Belchtow, Poland. The BORNSZTAJN family originated in Belchatow and extended to Lodz, Poland.
    Symcha BORNSZTAJN and Icek BORNSZTAJN (see descendants below) lived in Belchatow and were brothers. Their sons, Icek Mendel (Max) and Pinkus Mendel moved to the Baluty area of Lodz around the turn of the century. Pinkus Mendel BORNSZTAJN died 1918 in Lodz.
    Icek Mendel (Max) BORNSZTAJN immigrated to Paterson, New Jersey, from Lodz with his wife, Hinda, and their seven children between 1906 and 1910. Two more children were born in Paterson. At least of two their children eventually settled in Montreal, Canada.
