Theme:

Process Control and Robotics plays a vital role in the field of Industrial Automation.  Research in the field of Industrial Automation comprises conception and realization of sensor based autonomous robots for typical tasks in production i.e. assembly, manipulation, inspection, measuring and testing. Main issues are collision free motion planning for different robot control systems and algorithms for model based robot calibration. New methods for intuitive and automatic offline-programming of robots are developed. Special stress is laid on human robot co-operation integrating multiple sensors and using several co-operation levels. A special challenge is the usage of sensor based co-operative micro robots.

The coming operating theatres and virtual robot assisted surgeries are main issues of computer-aided surgery. This comprises sensor based surgical robots, flexible endoscopes, and visualization systems for the coming surgical workplace. Methods for modeling and simulating anatomical structures, especially bony tissue and soft tissue close to bones are emphasized. These methods are basis for operation planning systems supporting the surgical intervention as well as the planning of the sequential flow of an intervention.

The special session invites the authors to submit their research papers that explore design, development, applications, and operations of robot control in Industrial automation  & computer-aided surgery. The topics include but not limited to:

Topics:

·        Swarm Robotic Systems

·        Controller synthesis by Evolutionary Algorithms

·        Micro robotics

Paper Submission:
Papers must represent high quality and previously unpublished work, not currently under review by another conference, workshop, or journal. Your submission should include the author names, complete mailing addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and the email addresses of the authors. Interested authors should email a 6-page summary of their original and unpublished work including 5 keywords in the IEEE format through http://www.softconf.com/start/ITNG2008/submit.html. You can also email your paper to track chair and co-chairs with the subject line set as “ITNG 2008”.

Evaluation Process:
Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and soundness. Per ITNG policy, except for invited papers, all papers will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings published by the IEEE Computer Society and available on the IEEE digital library. Selected papers presented in the conference will be considered for publication in a special issue of International Journal of Computers and Applications

Best Student Paper:
The Best Student Paper will be awarded at the conference. To be eligible, the student must be the sole author of the paper, or the first author and primary contributor. (The winner of the award will present the paper in a plenary session at the conference). A cover letter to the General Chair/Track Chair must identify the paper as a candidate for this competition at the time of submission.

Important Dates:
Submission Deadline: Oct. 26, 2007
Author Notification by: Dec. 07, 2007
Camera Ready Due (6 pages): Feb. 01, 2008
