Oops, this is the last picture taken on the ride. There's lots of stuff to see bfore we get here on this short ride across Central Louisiana. One day I'll put it all together, maybe. Until then I'll continue to hunt and peck away at the stuff I keep missing on the last trip. Below, the little cabin above Bunkie doesn't have long to go. A "home" reflects so much. It was the tap root of the family tree in earlier times. Today, houses are less likely to be the "family home". Billy's and Sue's heights at age six aren't marked on the frame of the kitchen door. Homes, in many cases, are traded like cars.

Pictures are a great "review vehicle". Duh, I guess that's why we like them. I try to look closely at them to see what I've missed when I took them. I miss a lot. In the old cabin picture, the first thing that I noticed was that the front of the cabin is the only painted part. That's common as paint was expensive and everyone was taught to put their "best face forward". The difference here is that the commonly used color was white. This cabin's front wall is painted red.
Of course I wasn't going to forget the barn. The roof's condition is not a good sign.
There is a Cheneyville to Echo Road. It is a great route across the swamp behind Cheneyville. The surface is good for now. It connects US 71 to La.1.
I've covered Echo before. In fact I've covered this raod along the levee which connects Echo to Poland. I once saw a sign offering me the choice of either going to Poland or going to Heaven. This would be a repeat trip, I hoped. Nothing against Heaven, but I was familiar with Poland and there isn't any guy with a horn named Gabrial checking credentials.
This is an old barn. You read it, didn't you? Well that works.
I have five or six co-writers, contributors, hanger-rounders, etc, I try to keep on board. I have to include certain subjects in the writes to keep them happy. Dell is the barn guy. If there isn't a barn in the wirte then he stirs up trouble. Ray D. is unpredictable. I haven't been to Melville lately. He has mentioned that the Fred's Bar Bridge is now opened and I guess that'll come soon. Ok, Ray? I have to do extensive historical research to satisfy Fagan. Marion only wakes up when "something paper" is mentioned. Rider X and Voodoo haven't gotten spoiled yet. Ok, Dave, there's the corn you were reflecting on the other day. Thought I'd forgotten, huh?
