La.412 brings you into or away from Slaughter. Slaughter has an interesting name, doesn't it? It could be a family name or a happening name. Research it.
This a normal church in these parts except for the steeple. There's a story there. I know.
There's a main road going through Slaugher, I forgot its number. I turned north off of 412 onto it and revisited the old center of town.
Lots of history there. How much future, hard to say.
The premium members, those who give me some FEEDBACK, get a pre-publication email with some of the pictures from the ride. Dave responded, as is his custom, adding the following. Dave is an authority on this part of La. as well as being an authority on SW.La. and on the Delta of Mississippi, to a degree. Here he adds his experience with Slaughter: "Hey, I recognise those Slaughter pics. That grain elevator was part of the Tri-Parish Co-Op, a large farm supply outfit when I was around there. I bought most of my feed-n-seed-n-fertilizer-n-etc. there and stored a lot of corn and soybeans in that very grain elevator. I guess the whole place is shut down now". That just makes it come alive. Thanks again, Dave.
La.412 headed west. An old bank?
From the previous shot I saw this at the church. I went to investigate. Isn't "Thou Shalt Not Commit Nepotism" the 11th Commandment? Not in Louisiana, Bubba. Where do you find the highest number of common names? Ans: Government employee rolls.
