Respect,
Why is there so little,
For those that do as is right,
For those that have respect from others,
Why do you treat them with so little?
Have they not time and again earned the right to be respected by you?
What was done that has earned such eternal disrespect,
Such hatred even,
So that you feel the need,
The requirement to destroy this one in front of his peers,
Make him feel so worthless,
So vile,
Even though they have done no wrong,
I remember the days before,
The days when it was not so,
When there was no attempt by this one to please you,
But now,
Now that he tries,
It is all for naught,
Never will you be willing to give another chance,
And because of this,
He will see,
He will see not only that it is useless to try and better oneself,
But he will see you,
And will always see you,
In the faces of all his future,
And this will slowly eat away at this man,
Once so loved by his peers,
One that was held so high,
Till your hand decided against this,
And went so far,
So far,
As to push him from the shoulders of his friends,
And bring him crashing to the ground,
Knees bloodied,
And face in the mud,
As he tries one last time to crawl from this pit,
The pit he was put in by you,

And on he climbs,
Up the sharp rocky sides covered in mud.

Who will lend him a hand?

Not I.

My hands are slippery and cut already,
From my own climb.
