Anybody Out There?

Long ago we said our last words,
You wished me a goodnight,
And I did you the same grace,
I watched as you departed,
Read the note that you had left,
Felt the awe that you inspire in my soul,
Looked around myself and found all in its relative place,
And now,
Hours later,
As I hope you sleep comfortable in your bed,
Dreaming dreams that you will not remember,
I wait till again you will wake,
Still hours from now,
So that I may at least,
Embrace myself with the comfort of your voice,
The soft guiding that your thoughts give me,
In the paths I am to take,
Ones that I would lose myself, alone, upon,
I wish for your face never to fade from my mind,
I hope your dreams are sweet,
As you,
And I wonder,
What will tomorrow hold?
For if it was as today,
With you at least in my thoughts,
Then I know it will be worth the wait,
Till again when we meet,
No longer parted by this earthly slumber,
Of our so frail bodies,
So that time and again we will meet,
And then years from now,
We will still meet again,
Together pondering the questions that we have not yet been given the chance to answer,
Or have choose not to,
And we will guide each other again,
Down these paths,
And at the end of the trip,
Of each day,
We will wish each other well again,
Only to wait until the next rise,
And the next journey that is offered to us.
