There will be NO NPC's. If you see someone, that person is really there. If you want a weapon; make it, learn to use it. If you want a shop: build it, stock it, run it. The size, shape, and composition of towns, or anything else of human construction, is up to those who build and maintain them. As far as I have been able to determine, this will be THE FIRST TOTALLY PLAYER RUN WORLD.
Dark Zion will have mountains, plains, forests, rivers, and even oceans to explore and use. But how, when, and where is up to those who choose to come live there. Do you want to try it? Feel free. Be a part of society. Peon or prince, it is up to you. If you can get others to follow, you can rise as high as they lift you. Or be a loner, develop the skills, and go live where you want, how you want. This is not earth though. In Dark Zion, bugs rule the land.
What's more, if you choose, you can communicate with them. You can control their breeding to create new, more useful species. You can even take on some of their characteristics. Or you can assume some of the characteristics of the local plant life. The choices are yours. Do something, or not. You and those who join you in this new land will build the entire society, for good or ill. Are you up to the challenge?
Are you tired of "Carebear" games, but just as tired of trying to match your skills against powerleveling supermen? If so, then Dark Zion is the place to play. Your skills and attributes evolve rather than just grow and grow. As you gain in one area, you lose in others. The focus here is on character development and interaction, not "powergaming." This may turn some of you off. Tough. Dark Zion is not a world of supermen. Dark Zion will have more and deeper gameplay than any other game under development. It is a game for those who really want to explore the possibilities.
You will be hard to kill, but you can die. If you are killed, you resurrect in a NEW body. You start over. And, though you can take a new given name, a new sex, and new basic characteristics, you keep your unique surname. If you had friends before your death, you will still have them. If you made enemies, you still have them too. As I said above, this is a game like no other. A note here, while you have to rebuild your skills, the effort will be minimal. Remember, you evolve, not just keep adding attribute points. If you want to "rebuild" your character work on those skills you found you liked before. In a few days, you will be just about what you were when you died.
Remember, if you have friends, they will help you. It is a SOCIAL game. As I keep saying, Dark Zion is a game like no other. I am so excited about it that...well, this is the first web site I have ever attempted.
I invite you to learn more.
