| Getting that feeling? Here are some (other) ways to help take your mind off the pain. Hopefully you'll find something that works well for you. Squeeze an ice cube Exercise ( editor's note :: exercise releases endorphins, so does SI ) Take a walk Listen to music ( editor's note :: no sad stuff ) Cry ( editor's note :: if you can, Lord knows there's been times when you can't ) Clean or do homework Take a bubble bath Read a book/magazine Go shopping ( editor's note :: come on, whether you're in denial of it or not, shopping DOES cheer us up!! ) Watch a movie ( editor's note :: no sad stuff ) Draw, paint, play an instrument ( editor's note :: for all you amazing artists out there - kudos, but I'm not so talented in those areas and it ends up just frustrating the ish out of me! whatever works though ;o) ) Call a friend ( editor's note :: thanks to the one person that's always there for me, I love you! ) Take a cold shower Read something good someone has written about//to you (a letter, card, letter of recommendation) Write in a journal ( editor's note :: I must have like a million poems//thoughts in my journal ) Draw on yourself with a red marker ( editor's note :: washable, kay you guys? no sharpies ) Go online and read about stuff that interests you ( editor's note :: once again, no sad stuff ) Play a computer game ( editor's note :: Solitare, SimCity, you know the deal :o) ) If you have any distractions that are helpful to you, are not listed above, and you would like to add, please email me and I'll post them to the page. |
