Author’s note: I was never going to write a sequel to Payback but people convinced me that I need to finish the series, so here’s the next part.

"Your little bitch sure knows how to scream." He grinned, the look in his eyes telling Jack exactly what he meant.

"What did you do to her?" He asked between gritted teeth, his hands clenched into fists.

"Showed her a bit of a good time," he laughed, "she disobeyed me, I showed her who was boss. I must admit I’m rather surprised you’ve not done that to her before, from what I’ve heard you used to ‘inspire’ such control in your teams."

Jack banged his fists against the bars, the look in his eyes causing Makepeace to step back.

"I thought you’d understand, you used to be one of the masters, now look at you."

"I’ve not changed that much."

"You’ve gone soft, I’ve read the mission reports, read some of the things your team has done, the old Jack would have shown them exactly who was in charge, now you do nothing."

Jack opened the cell door, kicking it shut as he grabbed Makepeace in a choke hold and slammed him against the wall. "Yes I’ve changed, I’ve learnt that sometimes violence isn’t the answer…doesn’t mean I’m not willing to use it."

He released Makepeace, Stepping back slightly.

"Let me guess, now you teach me a lesson."

Jack smirked, shaking his head slightly. "Teal’c did enough of a job on you, I have something slightly different planned."

He walked out of the cell, feeling Makepeace’s eyes on him, the fear and anger being sent his way causing him to laugh slightly.

-------------

He strolled into the commissary, smiling sweetly at the staff there.

"What can we do for you Colonel?"

"When’s the next meal for Makepeace due?" He resisted the urge to spit the name, knowing that he needed to appear calm, in control if this was to work.

"We are just about to go make it now."

"Don’t bother. He’s on rations only now, I’ll be sorting it out myself. Gives you lovely ladies some extra free time."

"Thank you Colonel."

He grinned, grabbing a slice of cake as he left, wondering how long Makepeace would last before he started begging for food.

-----

He looked at his watch, thirty hours, Makepeace had lasted thirty hours before screaming at the guard to get him.

Pausing outside his cell, he signalled for the guard to go on a break before opening the door, a pack of rations displayed in his hand.

"You called for me?"

"You son of a bitch. You stopped my meals!"

"I did? Oh, I’m so sorry, I never realised." He tried to sound sincere, knowing that it would piss him off more.

He lunged at him, but Jack quickly side-stepped, Makepeace’s movements slow and unsteady.

He instead hit the wall, collapsing in a heap on the floor, his eyes still blazing with anger. "Why are you trying to kill me?"

Jack laughed, throwing the pack of rations at him. He watched as they were consumed quickly, waiting until he had finished and was glaring at him again before speaking. "I’m not trying to kill you Colonel, as much as I would like to. Teal’c gave you enough physical damage for the both of us, so I get to work on the mental."

Leaving the man to ponder his words he left, wondering just how long he’d have to wait this time.

---------

One week, and four packs of rations later Jack headed towards the cell for the last time. Makepeace was to be moved to a more secure location, which meant the end of their little game.

He opened the door. "Hey Makepeace, how’s it going?"

He barely had time to react as he was jumped from the side, the two of them falling to the floor. Jack quickly recovered, moving to pin Makepeace below him. "Nice try. But you wouldn’t have been able to take me a week ago, let alone now."

He still struggled though, and Jack found himself rather proud of how much fight he had left. "You’ll be glad to hear that you’re getting out of here soon."

"You failed then. You’ve done nothing to me, I get to go to a warm bed and food knowing that I beat you."

Jack let him go, perching on the side of the table as Makepeace climbed to his feet. "Yes you managed to teach my second in command a lesson, but Teal’c taught you one. And yes it may not have been successful but I think it will have stopped you from hurting her again. I wasn’t trying to beat you, or change your opinions. You’re a bastard, always have been always will be."

He paused, waiting for Makepeace’s fists to loosen slightly, "That’s why I win. She follows me willingly, would do anything for me. If I tried what you did she’d be begging for it, and she wouldn’t hate me after. All you get is a brief memory of her underneath you, I could have that every night if I wanted. And that’s going to haunt you for the rest of your life." He pulled out a photo, placing it on the desk. "A little souvenir for you."

Smirking he left the room, hearing Makepeace’s anguished curse as he saw the picture of him and Sam, hugging and smiling. Taking away the food had served no purpose, other than his own enjoyment, but having Makepeace believe that he’d won the woman, the woman Makepeace wanted more than anything to control, was going to do more damage than he could ever do.

Hearing the smash of the table being thrown across the room to prove his point, Jack stuck his hands in his pocket, whistling as he walked down the corridor.
