Darkness

"I sit here in the dark, watching you. Watching your chest rise and fall, the beeps of the machines and images on the monitors the only signs of life in this barren room.
Why won’t you just wake up? The doctor said you are in a coma, he gave it some complicated name that you’d understand, said the longer you are like this the less chance there is of you waking up.
I finally managed to convince Cassie to spend the night at Colonel O’Neill’s, she’s been here with me almost constantly, waiting for you to wake up.
So much seems to have happened in her life, in my life since you’ve been in here. You have missed so many things.
I’ve been trying to keep things together, but I’m rubbish at the boring, day to day stuff that you love. I like the annoying, complicated ‘doohickeys’ as the Colonel phrases it, but you already know that. I suppose that’s why we get on so well, we are opposites, balancing each other out.
I don’t know what would happen if I lost you, I remember how hard it was loosing mum, and Cassie shouldn’t have to go through that again. To be honest I’m sure most of the base would miss you too.
Oh great, now I’m depressing myself and probably you too. It’s just that I need you to wake up, I’ve been patient, I’ve waited, I know you were tired but come on, how much sleep does one woman need?
Ow, the lights just came on, the start of a new day. So why do I still feel surrounded by darkness? Janet please, wake up, I love you."
