NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
�Not in our Stars�� was always going to be the hardest of the three to write. As a result, it was the first episode I
prepared a �beat sheet� for, so I could plot out exactly what would happen and where the weak moments were. A similar
scene in the 2032 episode �Spindrift� heavily influenced the rescue of the sabotage team, as I was thinking about that
scene while writing the beginning of Act Three. The Excalibur scenes were perhaps some of the less powerful scenes in
the episode, but they advance character more than story, giving us further insight into how our characters work under
tension.
The final few moments were scripted before the rest of the episode as I wanted to get the tone of the cliffhanger ending
just right. The sudden helplessness the Excalibur crew experience would be reflected in their attitudes during Part Three�
