| So this part if the site is mainly devoted to two issues I once believed very strongly in: petz overpopulation and, consequently, spaying/neutering your petz. I first wrote this article about five years ago, but it's been tweaked here and there over the years. Although it seems a little silly, it's still something that strikes a chord with me for whatever reason, so I decided to keep if for old time's sake. I'll probably add more later when I have a little time, so stay posted! But in the meantime please understand that these are my personal views and I definitely do not expect everyone else to agree with them! I do not mean to offend any readers, only to share the way I experience the game with others. Thank you! | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Think about it. How many Petz owners do you know that have spayed or neutered their petz? Two, one, none? Owners who "fix" their petz are becoming increasingly uncommon and difficult to find. But isn't the point of Petz to have realistic virtual pets? In real life, animal owners are strongly encouraged to spay or neuter their pets. Why not do the same for your computer companions? I know what you are thinking: Is this girl nuts? They're just computer pixels! I realize this is a very common view in the modern petz community, but I would like to change that. Back in the days of Petz II, more owners actually truly cared and cherished their petz for purposes other than breeding. Call me nostaligc, but I miss that! With the release of Petz 3, it seemed as if petz owners began to use their petz only for breeding. Many lost that initial affection they had for their petz, and soon their Adopted Petz Folder, and consequently the Returned and Runaway Folders as well, swelled. This may not appear to be a problem for you, but I've always played my Petz game as if it were a reality. I just wish that other people would at least look at it from this perspective to become acquainted with how great it truly is. Trust me, there's more to petz than breeding. If you've found a genuine pet that you carefully selected after a meticulous screening policy, and one that you really love and care for, just being with him or her and playing a game of fetch can be very enjoyable. Get to know your petz on a new level. That way, each of them seem even more unique and pleasurable to you. Breeding no longer seems like a way to make you have more fun with you petz once you've bonded and become attached to each one. But one of the main reasons I support this cause is to help end the petz overpopulation that I have observed theses past few years. People have begun to look at their petz as possessions rather than living (well, relatively speaking at least) creatures that crave your love and attention. Fixing your pet may seem like it won't do much, but it will! If enough people do this, we can make a real difference! So it's up to you. Now that you know the benefits of spaying and neutering, hopefully you can make the responsible choice. It's a step we must take in order to reduce petz overpopulation. And remember: Petz are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole. |
