| Sailor here. My Mom is turning into a Siberian husky! Last year, so I am told by Zoe, she went around grumbling about getting Many Paws. Zoe says that she is growing more paws and that's why she keeps throwing off her sweaters because growing paws makes her hot and itchy. Okay, I thought, so where are these paws? Mom says the process takes quite a while, bear with her. Well, is she growing dog paws or bear paws? I mean, really, how am I supposed to keep up with Mom's growth spurts if she keeps confusing me like this? I hope she grows dog paws so she can keep up with me when I chase through the back yard and bark. And then guess what? Just this morning she woke up with a face a little bit like Zoe's. Zoe has a mask with two goggles and a stripe down her nose. Mom has one goggle and no stripe down her nose. Like Zoe, Mom's goggle is black but with a lot of red mixed in. Unlike Zoe, Mom's goggle is changing from black and red to green and yellow. Curious. Mom said she got her goggle yesterday when she was plucking toadstools from my lawn. As she bent over, Zoe and I were playing chase and we chased pretty close to Mom. I think Mom and I knocked heads. At least, I felt this BONK and had to sit down for a little while. Mom said "OWWWW, Sailor!" and sat down on the toadstools. Fitting, I thought. That's probably what toad stools are for, even though Mom is not a toad. Mom then went inside and got an ice bag and held it up to her face for a bit. She had a small lump on the side of her eye next to her ear. End of story, I thought. But no! This morning Mom woke up and she looked like a Siberian husky! She says it's called a black eye, and I can certainly see why. But it's changing colors. Maybe tomorrow it will be a red eye, then a green eye, then a yellow eye. She's going to have a tough time matching it to her wardrobe. She says when you get to be her age, gravity is the enemy and that's what made her eye look like a husky eye. I much prefer levity myself. I like the goggle idea, though. If she finally grows Many Paws and keeps her goggle, and if I can manage to bonk her in the other eye, she will look just like Zoe. Maybe then she'll play growly spithead with me. And chase. And leap-over-the-Sailor. I can hardly wait! Sailor the boggle-eyed collie and Zoe the goggle-eyed Siberian. Together WE have many paws. And the kitties have mini-paws. Mom is getting hers any day now. |
