Haven Express - April 28, 1936 Made Raft of Logs After the wives and families of Walter Barner, Ray Johnson and W. T. Seasholtz of this city had been removed to the hill section in boats, the trio caught three logs, knocked nails out of boards, and using a pole ax for a hammer, improvised a raft of the logs. Using sticks of wood for paddles, they paddled toward the hill. In passing the armature plant, they were caught in the swift current and nearly swept down stream, but finally succeeded in reaching Jones Street. |
