| July 11, 2003 - Journal Entry #5: I'd Be Excited if I Wasn't So Tired Less than 60 days until I ship off and well, I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed. Between working insane hours, relocating Jen, moving into Caro's basement, and making enless to-do lists I'm cashed like a rent check. We are the Clampetts, the mighty, mighty Clampetts!: Our Buffalo road trip Two girls, two dogs, my overnight bag and more crap than thought possible (all Jen's) were squeezed into Jen's Mitsubishi for a 900mile, cross-country, through-Chicago trek to drop Jen & the dogs off in Buffalo, NY. Jen got to see her house for the 1st time (way cute) and promptly began flirting with her neighbor (note: previously reported as his brother-in-law). Highlights 1. Drive-thru Chinese in Maumee, OH. (Yes, we should have known better.) 2. Sleeping family-style in Tonawanda, NY (note: 2 dogs=bed hogs). 3. Maid of the Mist corn-roasting-esqe plastic ponchos. V. good for weight loss. 4. Brandi is tougher than Sadie - at least when it comes to not freaking out about fireworks. 5. Leave plenty of time to cross the Canadian border back into New York. V. scary traffic. 6. Captain Ahab's Seafood Shanty (w/$1.50/lb clams) across from the Homewood Suites. 7. Finding both dogs in the same kennel - and realizing I could have moved my seat back 200 miles ago. 8. Seanne's sweet, sweet Alphabet Game victory. (Don't let Jen tell you she let me win). Checking into the Basement Suite @ Hotel Ringhofer: My new digs After killing myself to pack up all my PC wardrobe and "essentials" (I think I need another round of winnowing.) into boxes and suitcases - I promptly returned from Buffalo and exploded my life all over Caro's basement guest room. Its pretty plush: my own bathroom (just redone with an Asian/bamboo thing going), private entrance, cozy flannel sheets (I know its summer but the basement's cool!), and towel service (I came home to find she'd straightened the bathroom and brought me fresh towels - WOW! - Jen never did that! Note: Due to a mis-calculation on my part she also washed a peanut-butter-covered knife I had wrapped in a hand towel. The knife is now slightly bowed. ). And its all topped off by the sweetest Brittney Spaniel: Wusty (its really Rusty but Annie Ringhofer refers to him as such). I him a treat every night before bed. (This is probably verboten.) So that's the update. Still have 39% of my personal debt to expunge but the prize for winning the Champion's of Finance award ($500) and my bonus should help. More later. | July 17, 2003 - Journal Entry #6 - Quick Debt Update & Car Offer As the poster child for what not to do with credit cards after college, I'd like to announce that via working insane hours at both jobs, personal debt has been reduced by 78% compared to November, 2002's jaw-dropping tally. Additional note: '99 Honda Civic in vogue silver (my Gigi) is being brokered by Chuck Ringhofer at [email protected] if you're interested. More later. SNBH |
