Barry

The current leader on the Greenroyd Tour has burst out of the traps with a 40 point round. Eager to win the Tenerife Karaoke-Golf double, despite the lack of any natural talent, skill or ability - he could win the golf though.

Strengths: Flashy up-to-date golf equipment.  PR skills result in world-class reasons for piss-poor rounds.  Good at cooking.

Weaknesses:  Dodgy Irish train service usually results in plenty of no-shows.  No amount of PR will excuse some of his rounds.

Dec

It's been 3 years since the two-time champion last won the Greenroyd Cup.  Current favourite and lowest handicapper will mean the pressure will be on again to perform.  Rumoured to be past his best, it's looking like the new blood has passed him out.

Strengths: Apparently possesses the "worlds greatest 3-iron".

Weaknesses:  Unbelievably smug head from previous victories results in other players raising their game to compete.

Jerry

Rumoured to have retired from the game for the foreseeable future in order to become a professional Munster Rugby fan. Rumours that he is currently building a new hotel/golf resort (with a bridge) in Adare are unconfirmed.

JJ

Two time Greenroyd Cup champion, but controversially still refuses to hand over the Cup to the 2005 winner. Currently believed to be in residing in North Donegal teaching his "skills" to two up and coming young golfers.

Strengths:  Plays a fine tactical handicapping game. Likes to play the mind-games with Meade and Vaughan - usually with success.

Weaknesses:  Handicap limit of 25 will prove a real test.

John

Holds the record for the fastest Greenroyd golf round in history with a 18 holes being played in 38m 16.25s. Has a preferance for the Polish scoring system.

Mark

Whereabouts currently unknown. Believed to be somewhere in Peru.

Mick

A late starter that could have made it big had he taken up the game 20 years earlier. Currently plying his trade on the courses around Limerick. Allegedly learned his game from Tom O'Riordan. Should not be underestimated.

Paddy

Word on the street is that Paddy has decided to retire from the Dublin area tour. The Tenerife leg could be his last chance to win the Greenroyd Tour. Barring a win, the Tenerife Tour could be his last chance to get legless.

Strengths: Long off the tee. Could score 45+ points when least expected.

Weaknesses: Plays either hot or cold, depending on size of hangover.

Richie

The Big Man's been knocking on the door every year, but just can't seem to break through.  2004 saw heartbreak at the final hole when he had a chance to win the tournament.  Just needs all the pieces to fall into place for him to get his hands on the cup.  Known for playing well when the scores don't count.

Strengths: Quality short game developed from a misspent youth of pitch & putt and jockin' horses.

Weaknesses: Poor long game due to a dodgy back developed from a misspend youth of suppin' pints and jockin' horses.

Seán

The middle-ranking journeyman finally got his hands on the cup las year. Except he didn't, due to reluctance of Lafferty to let go his prized possession. Affected by his insistence on being a dual-player on both the golf and surfing tours. Big favourite to take home the golf/karaoke/surfing trifecta from Tenerife this year.

Strengths: Surfing.  Flashy drive off the tee.

Weaknesses:  Consistently average scores means he's had trouble making into the top two places.  Apparently doesn't have the "mental toughness" to counteract Dec's jibes.

Tom

His relocation to back to Tipp makes him even more of a fringe player than 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005.  May only be seen out on Tipp or Roscrea courses this year.  Should definitely be underestimated.
