My name is Sean Quinn, a 21 year-old architecture student, currently studying in Rome through the University of Notre Dame and exploring throughout various parts of Europe.

Architecture became a passion of mine during my senior year of high school. As I began my search for colleges, I first thought of a career in medicine. Science and math had always intrigued me, but there was always something missing from that, a void that the discovery of art filled for me. The right side of my brain which so beautifully complemented the left side, the creativity and passion to create with the understanding to know how to bring those ideas to a reality. Architecture became the synthesis of these two passions, and I have focused my time, my attention (and of course sacrificed hours of sleep for it, were an interesting breed, "Arkies").

My decision to pursue architecture drew me to attend the University of Notre Dame, whose architecture program offers a fully accredited curriculum in traditional and classical architecture and urbanism. Its program specializes in the study of classical architecture and the development of a traditional style for a modern world. "Tradition guides the making of buildings and settings toward the ends of civil life. And tradition brings a legacy of architectural form from which we draw and to which we add." We study the evolution of architecture, past and present, to learn how best to design buildings, communities, and cities.

Through the study of architecture, Ive learned how to build, to create shelter in a world that is both beautiful and harmful. Since September of 2000, I have been studying in Rome with fifty other architecture students in Rome. As a class, we have traveled through about thirty different cities and towns throughout Italy, and with each one I marvel at their individual flavor and feel. The urban design of each of these cities amazes me every time. During our extended breaks and weekends, Ive traveled through several countries in Europe and northern Africa. With each city I visit, the urban design of a city always guides me, and its incredible how much I can learn from just walking through the city; the monuments, buildings, and communities reveal so much about their culture and history.

I hope and plan to continue this pursuit of architecture throughout my remaining years of college and beyond. This webpage will be an ongoing presentation of my projects, work, and personal experiences. To all guests of this site, I hope you enjoy my work and my creations. I appreciate any or all feedback, comments, and even a bit of brutal criticism.

Take care and enjoy,
Sean Bryson Quinn
