| Family: Nemipteridae Scientific name: Nemipterus japonicus (Bloch) Local name: Kerisi Distribution: Shallow waters to about 60m depth Size commonly caught: 15-25cm total length Notes: Fish has 7-8 yellow lines on the sides of its pinkish body. The upper lobe of its caudal fin is prolonged into a yellow filament. Has a brownish red saddle on its forehead and a bright orange/ red blotch near origin of lateral line. Large individuals are sold fresh while smaler ones are processed into fish balls when landed in suffcient quantities. |
