AzAHEC
Health Careers Summer Camp
On July 28th - August 3rd,2002, SEAHEC Staff participated in the AzAHEC
Health Careers Summer Camp. The AzAHEC Health Careers Summer Camp is
for high school freshman and sophomores who are interested in health
careers. Thirty students from throughout Arizona were chosen to participate
in this residential camp held on the NAU campus in Flagstaff. The camp
was a weeklong program where participants learned about community health,
leadership, and learning-to-learning. The AzAHEC Health Careers Summer
Camp also brought in speakers who discussed different health careers
with the participants. Throughout the week, students identified and
developed a community health project that they could then take back
to their schools and further develop within their schools and communities.
After sessions students took part in social activities such as going
downtown to eat ice cream, going to the movies or having a picnic. The
camp ended with a closing ceremony and students received a certificate
of participation.
