August/September/October
During the months of August, September and October we have been anchored in Spa Creek in Annapolis Maryland.   James went looking for a temporary job and after a day of looking he found work in a boat yard.  While working at the boat yard he was able to work on many styles of boats.  James got a really good look at the integrity of some of the brands of boats manufactured today.  I am glad we are in a durable thick hulled boat.  Of course working on other boats did not mean that our boat issues were fixed. So after the fridge was not working for almost four months, the head was not working properly, the oven was not getting up to temperature, the beds were still single births and still no running water for a shower,  Heather and the children were very miserable. Tropical Storm Ernesto came through town and the children and Heather headed to a hotel...enough was enough.......  Soon later the boat projects and systems on board were fixed.

In September the children and Heather took a trip to Washington D.C.  The day was a full one starting at 05:00 hrs.  We boarded the commuter bus and arrived at the Mall in D.C. bright and early as the sun was coming up.  The boys got to visit the Natural History Museum, Air and Space Museum, The National Gallery of Art, the Sculpure Gardens and the Botanical Gardens.  We also walked for miles from the Capital Building, to the Washington Monument, to the Jefferson Memorial, to the Vietnam memorial and back to the Capital Building again.  The boys slept well that night.

October brought with it cold weather...not as cold as Maine though.  But still there were a few nights where the inside of the boat got to 48 degrees F, which without heat other than the stove can make for an uncomfortable morning.  The boat shows in Annapolis brought a lot of sailors to town.  During the four day event, the sailboat show blocks off the downtown area and brings in new boats from all over the world.  Then with just three days to tear down the show and bring in more boats, the Powerboat Show attracts powerboat owners for another four day event.
Of course visiting Annapolis should include a visit to the United States Navel Accademy.  The boys and I visited John Paul Jones' tomb and the grounds of the accademy.  Why do the sailors all look so very young I ask myself... me getting older ..no .. never ..that can't be it!

We are setting sail, heading south for warmer weather and another season of adventure.  We set off early in the morning and made the last bridge opening before morning rush hour restrictions.  Heading out of Annapolis and down the Chesapeak Bay towards Thomas Piont Light . There was a small boat warning with winds around 30knots. While sailing out of Annapolis another sailor hailed us on the radio to wish us luck, he would not make the journey due to an acident with his boat.  Evan proceeded to do a little dance exclaiming nothing goes wrong with our boat.  After scolding Evan for his cockyness, not a mile later, we lost all oil out of our engine through a chafed oil line.  We sailed back towards the harbor and had to have Seatow (like AAA on the water) tow us back to a boat yard.

Today we try again to start our journey south.  With following seas and strong winds we sailed a good run 50miles to the Solomons.  There we invited a small boat "SamJam" to raft up with us.
Thursday October 26th, 2006
Sailed from the Solomons, MD to Deltaville, VA (aprox 50 miles).  The sailing was good but COLD.  An olive/yellow bird made its way into the cockpit enclosure through a 2 inch opening and then sat on Heather's hand. The bird stayed with us for about five minutes hoping around on the chart and looking at us.  We are much closer to nature here aboard Seaesta.

Friday / Saturday October 27th / 28th  2006
We Stayed in Deltaville due to bad weather but resituated the boat in the lea of trees, wind 30kts.

Sunday 29th October,
We set off in 15kt west winds from Deltaville.  But ten miles later the winds and chop had increased. We decided to turn around and head back to Deltaville due to size of the chop and speed we were going.  We reached Deltaville in time for a Punkin Carving Party.  Fun was had by the all after a tough day on the water.
Monday  30st October
Stayed in Deltaville and fixed the dinghy broken in yesterdays sail.
