| JANUARY 2004 - MAY 2004 | ||||||
| May 24, 2004 This section ought to be called the rant of the month, especially now. It's been four weeks exactly since I've updated this, and I really don't have a whole lot to say anyway. Given that it's been so long, not much has changed. TAR is still starting in July, but now the only change is that it could be pushed back to September or October. At least CBS has green-lighted a sixth season of this kick-ass show. Right now, the only problem is trying to make some money so that I can actually go to these conventions. With TAR5 and TAR6 being so close together, I don't know how the heck I'm going to make this work. Plus, the Apprentice is yet another event I have to deal with. By this time next year, my chances of this not being an issue with definitely increase. April 19, 2004 I'm still pissed about The Amazing Race starting so late in the summer. At least I'll be able to watch it as it airs. It's not like I'm doing anything important at 10 in the PM on Tuesday. The only thing I'm fearing is when the season finale is. I'd imagine it wouldn't be on a Tuesday. After all, all the TAR Players have stuff to do the following day, and Tuesday isn't exactly over-the-hump day. Now, if it's on a Thursday, then I'll be happy. Friday and Saturday's even better. Wednesday and Sunday? Not so much, but I could live with that. TAR3 was on a Wednesday, but that was closer to Christmas (a week before exactly). Survivor starring Jenna Morasca was on a Sunday (and the finale always is anyway). Monday is just stupid, and Tuesday would kind of suck. For one thing, I've got multiple roles at the Career Fair this year, and I don't know what day of the week or what week it's going to be this coming fall. I have a feeling it'll conflict. Now, a Friday or Saturday TARCON would conflict with a PITT game, but I already told myself that I probably wasn't going to every game. Let's hope it doesn't conflict with the first game! Of course, there could be a Thursday home opener. In the end, I'll have to choose if it conflicts, and there's nothing I can do about it, unless I fly, in which case I'll have to choose to make late-2004 "my time" or to cherish life a little longer here in Pittsburgh. Until then, I'm afraid it's best that I don't dwell on this, since whatever happens will happen. I don't know shit yet, and until I do, I can't dwell so much. There's so much to do that I don't have time to cry. FWIW, CBS could move the date back to the speculated 5/27/2004, or push it back to when it'll air similar to TAR3 in 2002, making it a little more convenient sans the weather to go to New York. Yeah, that's what I was talking about people. Sorry for not mentioning that I was talking about the 5th Amazing Race Convention. I recommend that you all check out Kill Bill Volume 2, and if you haven't, get Volume 1. I'm hoping that everyone's seen it, because if you haven't, you should have. Kill Bill makes Resevior Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown look so inferior (except from this time in 2005, where that won't hold true anymore). I'm waiting for an Uncensored version to surface DVD-style within the year. Enjoy the week ahead of y'all. March 23, 2004 I really dont have anything to put in here, given that over a month has passed since I updated the Rant. This time, my excuse is that Im tired as hell while typing this. Maybe Ill add stuff later, but for now, Ive got nothing. Okay, make that nothing much. Since I last updated, I finally hung out with the crew, and really I regained my sleep pattern, only to lose it again. I finally get a week off, and for my efforts, I fall ill, and then injure my shoulder. Now Im back to struggling, but at least its not as bad since Im moving along. I just want to be ahead, because if Im not ahead, something will happen where Ill fall behind and then get screwed. Well, the one-year mark of when my website went live is approaching. And its on the same day as the Playboy 50 party that I wont be attending. Go figure. I plan to make some changes, but really since I already did a big overhaul last month, itll focus on the cover and main pages. After all, it doesnt look and feel good and well now. Early 2004 Not much to write in here, but at least I'm finally updating this on a weekly basis. I swear, I'm probably going to end up being awake for like 2 weeks straight, thanks to all the stuff I have to do. I haven't even heard from my crew. I basically don't have a life anymore. Now it's kinda getting bad, only because the weather is getting better, but I'm still savin' the money. Well, I'm slated to go out this weekend, since my midterms will be out of the way for the most part. During the summer, I always left the dialogue from one of my favorite movies. While Fast Times rocked, the dialogue is getting old. Well, it's about to get older, because today's no different. I'm leaving it until exciting shit happens that's worthy of replacing this. To be frank, all of the 80s "Teen Movies" had some of the best dialogue (in addition to everything else) in Movie history. Maybe if that's the case, I should replace this with something from the Breakfast Club (but there's way too much stuff there). Back to ranting. Seriously, NBC should get The Handler. They could even put it up against CSI: Miami. All they have to do is to get rid of that Average Joe crap. That, and don't start the season around the time Monday Night Football does. Las Vegas got lucky, but I don't know about The Handler if it were to move into the 10 pm Monday slot. Well, I'm over 6 months removed from TARCON, which means the next one is less than 6 months away. Fortunately, it's now looking like I'll be going, and for more than just one day. Also, I'll be in a better hotel! Sweet! I have to admit that I'd rather save and be in a Holiday Inn (or something normal) close to Times Square. All I can say is that I'm so not staying in the Union Square Inn. There weren't even any elevators for crying out loud. It was off the hook last year, but it so could have been much better, and I'll rant about that later as I get closer to the event. Seriously, Pittsburghers know how to party, but TARCON (The Amazing Race Convention for the idiots out there) makes all things look so inferior. The thing that sucks is that I may not be around for as long as I had planned to be around for, despite the financial turnaround. Well, if there's a TARCON in 2005, I'll make a better attempt to be around longer. The only problem is if the event is moved up a bit or some more. I kinda have moral imperative commitments during that period. And who knows what'll happen in the second half of summer '05, but as far as "working" something out in early summer '05, it's remotely out of the question. That's it. I now leave you with the closing dialogue. If you have any suggestions, holla! I'm more than likely to replace this one with yours. But, you've gotta respect the 80s. Anyone remember Fast Times at Ridgemount High? Great movie, one of those movies that you can watch over and over again without ever getting sick of it. I will always laugh at the scene from the car wreck before the party, featuring Sean Penn as Jeff Spicoli and his friend (Jefferson's Brother). Jefferson's Brother (JB): My brother's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill us! He gonna kill you and he gonna kill me! My brother gonna kill us! Spicoli: Just be glad I had fast reflexes. JB: My brother's gonna shit! Spicoli: Well make up your mind already! Is he gonna shit or is he gonna kill us? JB: He's gonna shit. Then he gonna kill us! And that's just the beginning (not of the movie)! Spicoli would later make the perfect plan to frame the rivals, and it basically meant destruction for them. Enjoy the week and see y'all (locals) at Carnival! |
