The Rant of the Week
Holla
Its been almost 11 months since Ive updated this section.  To be exact, it wouldve been 11 months from one week from this coming Sunday since Ive done anything with this site.  Seriously, with popular places like Blogger, Myspace, and thefacebook, is there any need for any website, let alone this one?  One things for sure, in addition to my new (and likely final) attempt to get this site up to speed, theres an HTML duplicate in the works.  This site looks like it was something put together with the aide of Windows Paint.  I took advantage of pre-made designs that I got lazy while trying to be creative.

Similar to last year, a lot of things have occurred since I last updated.  I passed on the NFL Sunday Ticket this year.  I have Comcast Featuring On Demand, which is good year round.  NFLST is awesome for 17 weeks in the fall season to the point where Comcast is kind of sad.  However, the current cable is actually the Digital Cable that Ive been hoping for while GSN was off the hook.  At least GSN has TAR (something new to the channel since Ive been away from the site).  Anyway, the NFLST is now only accessible at one of my best friends house, and Ive been taking it easy for the past 10-11 months.  I wonder if TARCON has something to do with that.  I doubt it (I hope not), but when the Con started to bloom, I started to go out a lot less.  It increased in May 2003, when the fourth event was three months away, with the fifth event 13 months later.  The good life died down for me in July of 2004, and then got insane in September of that same year, before dying down in January/February of 2005, which was not only the continuation of three Main Events in a ten-month (2004-2005 season) span, but the first of three Main Events in the year 2005.  The second one naturally came up three months and two days later, before a 7-month and 3-day break for the final one that occurred last month.  Theres another big event coming up, believe it or not, in less than four months already (maybe a little more, which might be a little unfortunate, but based on a couple things, its the former).  However, there were a lot of other things that kept me from partying hard pretty much all the time, which leads me to say that Im going to prove to myself and whomever else that the Main Event is not a replacement of having fun here.  It has an impact, but it shouldnt have a strong enough impact that prevents me from doing everything.  Summer of 2003 had me doing a lot of things, but I also still had my Pontiac.

And thats one reason: transportation.  Another is money (which was the partial impact of the Main Event vs. Partying here in the Burgh).  A third was getting my life back on track.  All these relate to whats ahead in the next paragraph.

When I last ranted in here, I was pondering the idea of moving out early before my lease ended.  I couldnt take it anymore and had to shape up, so my time out of the house in-between two AR seasons turned from 2 weeks into a month into 3 months, into the remainder of my lease, and finally until further notice (right now).  The last get-together was during the NFL Postseason, and the last event at the house (my last event; there was one more party prior to an unlucky situation after I left) was a week before I took off for good.  Other than that, I visited the house, grabbed some things when I was there (and surprisingly, no one was ever there whenever I when in, except for the last 2-3 times), and other than that, I didnt go back.

Obviously, I went back in the last month, twice, to grab as much of the remaining stuff that I had, and learned that my friends had been in a serious accident that cost them the summer.  For the most part, everyone else had also moved out.  This happened around/a little before the end of May.  Everyone recovered by move out time, but nowhere near 100%.  In fact, this past November, there were still some after effects.  Anyway, I was feeling great.  We moved out all of the stuff at the end of July, partied for my friends birthday, and then I went back to doing nothing at all again.  BTW, I took the rest of my stuff back home.  Then I bused back to the city, and back to the crib the following day.  Good times once again.  Naturally, almost in the middle of two TAR seasons.  Speaking of which, TAR came back earlier in July on GSN, with the daily airings of all 7 seasons, starting from Day 1, Season 1, and airing in order.

Similar to July, August was full of nothing, only this time I didnt have to worry about my apartment.  Earlier on in June, I was looking into new places (in fact, since April), but I just couldnt afford it or swing it.  Even if I could, things were working out at the house.  In fact, I was looking around the city, where I was likely to work at for a new job.  But, I also pondered the idea of moving close to the crib.  Hey, maybe Ill swing both!  Highly unlikely, but Ive got to make a decision as soon as possible, and Ill get to that in a second.  But anyway, August was like July, except I didnt have to worry about moving shit out of my former home, or anything related to that, especially rent!  However, the new job and the job search that went with that was starting to pick up, and even more so in September (another nothingness but extremely productive compared to July and August) because another Main Event was quickly approaching, and I wouldve had to have missed it if I didnt get something.  Naturally, I got something the week of the premiere, and worked enough and saved enough to go.  As much as it really was worth it to go, it really wasnt.  But I had a great time, and it can only get better next time, which not only could be the last one for a year, but my last one ever.  Highly unlikely, but thats a possibility that Ill rant about later (or at the blogger), but not today.

Anyway, to sum it up, in 2005, the hard-partying died down while I moved back home and took care of myself, felt great, moved my stuff out, and got an awesome job.  Other big events worth mentioning include the work I did (which helped me out in terms of feeling great and getting to NYC given that my tax refund came the weekend before I left but I only got to it the day I left which meant that it definitely wasnt clearing in time), which includes Network Administration for the family business, and more physical, the painting of the deck, and yard work (which killed my knee to the where it hurts as of today) among other things.  In addition, traveling for my siblings commencements and for one of my friends wedding (where he got engaged the week I left my apartment last February), the party at the house, and the fact that I actually felt better with the Pontiac gone forever, and the Jeep sitting out of commission from early January to late June than when I struggled with the Pontiac as 2004 went on.  Yes, I did not drive at all during that period, except for driving my parents car in and out of the garage to wash it, and driving my sisters car to pick up someone for the party.

Whats in store for 2006?  Hopefully, itll be a little more like 2000, and early 2004, and less like 2002.  In addition, hopefully the end will be better than 2005, and nothing like previous years.  Up until and including 1990, it was sweet for the kid in me.  1991 was a little meh, 1992 was awesome, 1993 I made the best out of it; 1994 was memorable and in-between meh, I made the best out of it, and awesome (a little of each), 1995 was memorable and awesome after a little bit of a slump that I started to recover from in November, and would bloom despite some other things into April/May.  1996 sucked while I was desperately trying to wait for 1997, 1997 was a LITE version of 1995 (not counting the blooming part since it wasnt necessary) but did have that Cayman Island trip that replaced Thanksgiving.  Since then save for this year, its pretty much been boring and lame, but unlike this year, in 2001 and 2003 I closed out on the final few days in style.  Given that, once again, and always until the day I die, I have the opportunity to make the best out of a sparkling new year-soon-to-turn-rusty-and-worn-out (slowly or rapidly in time for sparkling 2007).  Regardless of whatever, its in my control.

Thats all for now.  Since therere other places to blog with ease, Im probably going to rename this the Weekly2Monthly Rant as recap to past events (similar to this one, but as a brief version of this one).  Thanks for reading my 2005 as a rant-like whole, and enjoy the rest of your week.
