Dowkes Unlimited
Canadian, eh?
Spanning the Continents

Thanks for coming to visit. I would imagine that you are a Dowkes or related to one somewhere in your history.  If you have anything to add to this website, in the form of pictures or more information, please contact
me.

I started becoming interested in the Dowkes lineage when Lloyd and I received a phone call from Bernice Mitchell from Saskatchewan, who said that she always looked in the phone book when she went away from home to see if there were any Dowkes in the book.  She spoke to Lloyd for some time, and gave us her number to call, if we were ever in her part of the world.

Unfortunately, we haven't been but we have been contacted by other people, either by phone or through email.  I've got quite a list of names now, and have communicated with a number of them.

It'd be great to have a reunion!
Lloyd's dad gave him a book about some Dowkes who came out West in the 1800's.  It was pretty interesting, and I used that book to start a family tree.  Click on Dowkes History under Links to get there.  Since then I've received some more information from our "New Extended Family" - I'll be adding that info to these pages in the near future.
Why the duck?  Well, Lloyd tried to find the meaning of Dowkes and all he could find was "Keeper of Ducks".

Ducks are cool :)

I decided to name my website Dowkes Unlimited because of the relationship to ducks but, since I've discovered that there are a lot more Dowkes out there than originally thought, the name is appropriate in that way, too.
