Married Richard James VERCOE, 13 March 1862 Old Anglican Church, Otahuhu, Auckland, NZ by Rev. Frank Gould. They celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary in 1922 and their Golden Wedding in 1912. Emma died 23 November 1928. at the home of her daughter Emma ENTWISTLE in Marama Street, (now Maritime Terr) Birkenhead Auckland, NZ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- her Obituary with additions . . . - EMMA VERCOE - The death occurred at Birkenhead 23 Nov 1928, of Mrs Emma Vercoe, aged 85, (in Marama Terrace, - renamed Maritime Terrace in 1967) She was well known in the Helensville district, where her husband, the late Mr Richard James Vercoe, was a farmer. Mr Vercoe, who was born at sea in 1842, and came to Auckland at the age of 5 years. He was a prominent member of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, which he joined when 18 years old, and at the time of his death at Grey Lynn, five years ago, was the oldest member of the Fountain of Friendship Lodge. Mrs Vercoe was the third daughter of the late Mr Thomas Henwood, of Mangere, being born on March 23 1843 at St Teath, Cornwall, England, She came to Auckland in 1857 on the ship Joseph Fletcher. Married Richard James Vercoe (Matakana) on 13th March 1862 in the Anglican Church, Otahuhu, Auckland, by Rev F Gould She is survived by a family of nine, and there are 38 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Their sons are Mr James Oxenbury Vercoe, b. 28 September 1863 at Matakana, NZ d. 3 January 1931 aged 67 of Te Pua, Helensville. m. Lucretia (Lu) Lee Bradly in 1891, born 7 Sept. 1869, d.13.December 1956 Mr Richard Vercoe, (Dick) (unmarried) Carpenter of Birkenhead, Mr Charles Edward Vercoe, (Charlie) b. 12 June 1869, at Helensville Mr John Snell Vercoe, (Jack) b.27.July1880, - d. 5.May1956, of Helensville. Their daughters are: Elizabeth Jane (Cissy) VERCOE b. 13.May 1867, at Matakana, NZ m. Frederick Walker, 1890 in NZ Wanganui Avenue, Herne Bay, (2 daughters, Ada, Noelo Nella) Emma Vercoe b. 29. June 1871, at Helensville, NZ m. William Rowley Entwistle, in 1891 in NZ, They lived in Marama Terrrace, Birkenhead, Auckland. [renamed Maritime Terrace1967] children: Roley, Seeta, Ruth, Harry, Zoe. Lily (Lil) Mabel VERCOE b. 4 Jan 1874, on Kawau Island, Auckland, NZ m. Henry McIntosh, of Takanini, Auckland. Helen (Nelly) VERCOE b. 320.Jan 1877 m.
