Killarney
( Mountain Biking )

Mountain biking in Killarney National Park was wonderful!  It was hard work uphill but worth it!  Downhill was exhilarating but I really had to concentrate on not getting distracted by the scenery, otherwise, it would be good-bye Sandy.  There were lots of streams, little waterfalls, large lakes, and a few sheep.

We hopped on our mountain bikes in town, rode through town a little bit to get to the mountain where we biked the 14 miles to the Gap of Dunloe.  The path was a very narrow road and was tricky in some parts because not only was it a 2-way trail, but you had to mind other bikers, horses, the horse-drawn carriages, cars, motorcycles, and people.

Cheers!

On our boat ride back to town, we went through the three Lakes of Killarney National Park:  huge Lough Leane (Lower Lake), Muckross Lake (Middle), and tiny Upper Lake.

Ross Castle (left photo) was built by the O'Donaghue chieftains in the 14th C. and was the last in Munster to fall to Cromwell's army.
