The 5th Brigade Quarterly Meeting. This meeting of the 5th Brigade, Mississippi Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, will held at 7 p.m. in the Dixie Community Center, about five miles south of Hattiesburg on Elks Lake Road. Our Camp is co-hosting with the Purvis Camp. Come and enjoy a potluck dinner while listening to famed speaker Dr. Reinhard Dearing of Slidell, LA!

September 21, 2008, Sunday,
Juniper Grove Confederate Memorial Service. At 3 p.m., our Camp with the assistance of the Slidell Battery and the 27th Mississippi Honor Guard will conduct a memorial service to honor the eight to twelve Confederate Veterans buried in the church cemetery. Juniper Grove Baptist Church is located just off HWY 53, about four miles south of the intersection of I59 and Hwy 53. That's the south Poplarville exit on I59. Uniformed reenactors and canon will participate. The guest speaker will be our own famed orator and noted "Louisana Tigers" historian, Charlie Schmitz!

Fall Muster Returns to Beauvoir!
The Gainesville Volunteers will set up their usual Sutters tent! This is a super fun event that everyone needs to experience. A living history encampment with many, many uniformed reenactors and cannon. Skirmishers will clash. Come see the completely restored Beauvoir, the last home of Confederate States of America President and Spanish-American War hero, our much beloved Jefferson Davis.

November 1 and 2, 2008, Saturday and Sunday,
Picayune Fall Street Fair.  
The Gainesville Volunteers will set up their tents and spread the news of our Confederate "Heritage of Honor." Need help with your Confederate history and family research...come socialize with us!!! Yankees are Welcome too!!

Veterans Day Parade. The Gainesville Volunteers have been asked to participate by Picayune Memorial High School's US Navy Junior ROTC. Our participation is tenative, but we are dedicated and will continue to honor our Confederate heritage at every opportunity. More details to be announced.

Monthly Camp Muster.
The Gainesville Volunteers will meet at the Senior Center, Picayune, Mississippi at 7:00 p.m. Program to be announced.
- November 15, 2008, Saturday,
Mandeville Cemetery Confederate Memorial Service.
Hosting Camps include the Nathan Bedford Forrest Camp of Covington, LA; Fenner's LA Battery; the 10th LA Militia, and the Gainesville Volunteers. We will honor four Louisiana Confederate veterans buried in the cemetery. Memorial service, reenactors, cannon and musket salutes.
- November 15, 2008, Saturday (Tenative),
Pearl River County Heritage Festival.
This will be the first of what is hoped to be an annual event. Sponsored by the Pearl River County Historical Society, the Crosby Arboretum, and a host of other County Historical Groups. The Gainesville Volunteers will participate in yet another opportunity to honor our Confederate heritage!!! More details to be announced.
- December 1, 2008, Monday (Tenative),
Picayune Christmas Parade.
The Gainesville Volunteers will participate in this yearly event. Come help us decorate our float! More details to be announced.

Toys for Tykes Motorcycle Ride-In for Charity.
The Gainesville Volunteers will be present at this annual event. Come one and all!! Let's help some needy children!!!
