| My story begins in the fabled San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, home of movie stars, swimming pools and citrus groves! |
| The San Fernando Valley has over a million people crowded into hellish bowl o' smog. There are about a dozen high schools and the one I went to is the famed SFHS, where Ritchie Valens attended before he met his fate in that fateful airplane crahs in 1959! There are 3 junior colleges, all within the ever-troubled Los Angeles Community College District, and I was lucky enough to attend L.A. Valley College. If you've seen "Throw Momma From the Train," that's the college where Billy Crystal taught the class that Danny DeVito was in. Although they plotted to do away with the other's problem, I can assure you that far less dastardly things are the norm at the home of the Monarchs! Theses three junior colleges feed into the main university of the area, California State University in Northridge. Northridge, you might recall, was near the epicenter of the Northridge earthquake back in 1994. |
