| I drive close to 600 miles a week to go to the world famous Univeristy of Maine. As everyone knows, THE University of Maine is located in Orono, Maine. It is NOT the University of Maine AT or IN Orono. I made the mistake several times of calling it UMO, but I was wrong. Now I'm right! UM!!! Blackbears!! Woooo! Anway, I drive close to 600 miles a week. That caan get really boring, especially after I've sat on my ass all day in the boring-ass library reading somewhat interesting textbooks on subjects such as immunology and organic chemistry. YEAH! So, to help keep my ass awake while I am driving over the hills and through the woods, I sometimes listen to AM radio. (Like, just what is that, anyway?) I used to burn CDs, but that got old. I lost my RIO MP3 player, which sucks because that will not skip, no matter how bad the roads are.... |

| So, I have found that living in the Northeast provides me with a wide range of AM radio options. I don't recall what my AM options were in L.A., but I'm sure they were mostly Spanish. I like Spanish, but I just don't know it well enough to catch what the hell the topic is. So, oot here, I get French radio! I still dun't know what they are saying. My favoUrite is "Info690-La Radio des Nouvelles." It's from Montreal and comes in quite clear most nights. Another Montreal station is the English counterpart to Info690-CINW-News940. Sometimes I even get CJAD-Montreal's NewsTalk. BUt that fades in and out with 2 French stations... When I grow tired of listening about the Hell's Angels gang and the growing discontent of the Francophones, I just press a button and I'm in New York City (Think like when Lady Miss Kier SHOUTS that oot!) New York gives me WCBS-880AM and 1010WINS. (You might remember WINS from the "Summer of Sam" movie...) The interesting thing aboot these two stations is that they are BOTH owned by Infinity Braodcasting, which also owns the L.A. versions of WCBS and WINS: KNX 1070 and KFWB 980. Man, that Infinity owns almost every station I listen to, including WBZ 1030 Boston KDKA 1020 Pittsburgh (The world's first radio station!) WTIC 1080 Hartford WTOP 1500 Washington, D.C. WRKO 680 Boston CFRB 1010 Toronto CHUM 1050 Toronto |
