What (Something) That Is?
.) Three puzzles of differing types and difficulty will be displayed during each round. They are not arranged in any order.

.) The puzzle types are shown
here. More will be added as I think of them. Suggestions for puzzle types are welcome.

.) One guess is allowed per group of puzzles. Guessing incorrectly on one puzzle does not warrant a guess on another puzzle.

.) Since you must choose between the puzzles, you can go for the sure thing and guess the easy puzzle, which could get other correct guesses, resulting in fewer points per correct guess. Or you could try for the harder puzzle and hope youre the only one that gets it right. Dont wait too long to see which one people are guessing, though. You may lose points by submitting your answer after others do or by a hint popping up without warning.

.) A total of 1000 points will be awarded per puzzle. The number of points given to each correct guesser is determined by a number of things: where the guesser falls in the order of submitted correct answers, how many people guessed the answer correctly, how many hints the guesser used, how many hints others used, and how many total incorrect guesses were given.

.) Only one guess is allowed per round. There is no penalty for the person making an incorrect guess. The total number of points distributed to correct guessers increases by 100 for each incorrect guess, though.

.) Scoring is done in Excel, with points for each round being rounded to the nearest 1. Round-off error is accepted, so total points may not always add up to exactly 1000.

.) Hints may or may not be given on puzzles. No notice will be given prior to a hint, but they will show up no earlier than 12 hours after the puzzle has been posted.

.) Regardless of whether you used a hint, if your answer comes after the hint was announced, it's assumed you used it.

.) Just because one puzzle gets a hint doesnt mean others will.

.) The round will end at the time indicated (usually 24 - 48 hours from new puzzle being posted). The next round will start immediately.

.) The proposed end time for the following puzzle will also be shown. This time is subject to change.

.) Points accumulate until the end of the month, when the winner will be announced.

.) For the most part, simply showing me that you know the answer to the puzzle will get you credit. Your answer doesnt have to be 100% correct (the maths questions are an exception).

.) If you submit the answer via instant messenger and my computer powers off and I never get the answer, that's your loss. To be safe, e-mail me. All correct instant messenger guesses will be acknowledged. To reach me by instant messenger or e-mail, go to my home page and look towards the middle of the top of the page.

.) I have yet to decide if the winner each month will actually get a prize of some sort or just get bragging rights until the end of the next game. Please give me any prize ideas.

.) All times are Eastern.

.) This game is open to anyone, whether I know them or not. Encourage your friends to play :-)
