The Juniorate Department integrates into one community the Formation Year (FY) students (the newcomers who have not studied in the minor seminary) and First Year College students (those who come from minor seminaries or from the Formation Year). It provides the basic introduction to the seminary formation and priestly training.
It likewise engages the student in a basic formation journey which leads to personal growth, religious education, human value development, scholastic discipline, community and spiritual orientations and appreciation for the process of seminary formation and priestly training.
Living the hidden life of Christ in Nazareth is the main purpose of the Juniorate Department, that the new seminarians would understand and cooperate actively in the formation with the formators, thus experiencing Christ's growth in wisdom, age and grace. This somewhat hidden life of the department prepares the formandi in terms of spiritual, academic and personal discipline before joining the mainstream of the major seminary.
