KNOWLEDGE READERS BOOK CLUB
"Knowledge Readers" book club in Irmo for students in 9th-12th grades

This is a fun, student-led book club with discussion. The club is limited to twelve members.  (See Rules and Meeting Format at bottom of page)

We meet the first Friday of each month for discussion from 11:30am until 12:30pm.  All members should bring $5.00 and a drink.  We will order pizza to eat at the Camacho's house.  Then we go to the REACH High Student Council meeting right after lunch!  Call
Sabrina Camacho at 960-9731 to register and for Irmo meeting location.  If you wish your student to be transported to the Student Council meeting, please fill out the Permission Form.
More About Our Book Club:

CLUB RULES
    Dropping Off - You will
not be allowed to drop off your teen for this meeting unless I have a permission form on file.  I have forms to cover the entire school year for you.   If your teen will be driving on his/her own, please provide them with the proper papers to avoid the truancy crackdown happening in our school district.
Behavior -  We will follow the same behavior requirements as REACH.  Warning - Parent Involvement - Suspension - Expulsion.  One person at a time talks and the volume level stays reasonable!
Attendance - We hope the teens attend each month.  If a vacation is planned, or a medical situation arises, please let us know as soon as possible.  These, of course, are excused absences.  Three unexcused absences in the year opens your membership position to the next person on the waiting list.
We wish everyone to be a contributing member of the book club and so require you to read the book selection and come prepared to discuss it.
    There will be
NO MEETINGS IN JUNE OR JULY.
Book Choices - Please choose books that are available in paperback to make them affordable.  OR - plenty of copies available at the library.  Make sure, too, that they are challenging (good Internet site:
www.allreaders.com).   There are lists of our previously read books below.
Make sure to write your questions down to share with the group.

MEETING FORMAT
11:30 - Meeting starts.  Next month's
three book selections are presented and discussed.  Members vote on the one they wish to read.
11:45 - 12:30 - Book Discussion led by the person whose month it is.
Everyone brings written 3-5 trivia-type, literature discussion questions.
