Born in Canada in 1961, now living in Brooklyn, NY, commissioned oils artist Dawna has studied under two internationally acclaimed oils artists, Master George Goh & Rome's Ilir Zefi. Some of Dawna's paintings & commissioned works have been sold to local private collectors, others displayed and sold in Saskatchewan and Ontario, Canada. Her first solo exhibit was during the summer of '99 in Tucson's Borders Books & Music; she was the premiere artist during her July/August solo exhibit at Tucson's new Borders in Park Place. She has participated in Artlink's Art Detour in Phoenix, AZ. and sold through The Tucson International Arts Center who hosted her solo exhibit in October of 2000. Dawna chooses to paint in a variety of styles: Impressionist, Abstract, & Expressionist. She paints from real life, photos, or her imagination, and will entertain most any concept. An eclectic mix of images lives on her canvases; figures, still lifes, landscapes, and cityscapes provide her with unending inspiration.
While living in Tucson, Dawna was active in local art and writing jurying/competitions, workshops, and galleries. With fiction writing partner, Larry Naessens, suspense enovel, Laura's Legacy, was published and is available for purchase on the Internet at Amazon.com.
Dawna's article/review: Monet at Giverny ~ Masterpieces from the Musee Marmottan, along with a short story, was published in ezine, Eclecticity. They also presented her article about Ilir Zefi.
She recently moved to NYC and is settling in and getting her feet wet in the art scene.
