| This is a work in progress picture taken on 12/17/04. Four buildings, more scenery and gloss medium has since been added, but this gives an overall view of the track plan. This module conforms to the HOn30 module standards. It has an 11inch radius on the loop and the switch to the left wharf is a curved Peco No. 6. The standard/narrow gauge diamond near the front is an old AHM crossing discontinued in the 1970's. One word of caution on the AHM crossings: the plastics gaps are large and the HOn30 portion has a definite slope up to the standard gauge rail. It causes the most stalls and derailments of all the trackwork on the module. If I were going to rebuild Linekin Bay, I would scratch-build my own crossing, especially since the standard gauge portion is non-operating. This module has a working ball signal that cuts power to the mainline or branch section of track that does not have the right of way. It is motor driven. The turn table is built according to the Dave Frary article in Feb 1987 Model Railroader using a phono plus as the pivot. It is manual with no indexing. This module was displayed at the 2005 National Narrow Gauge Convention in Dearborn, MI, and every April for the past 3 years at the Midwest Narrow Gauge show in Ohio. Show Schedule: Midwest Narrow Gauge Show, Salem, OH Mar 22-25, 2007 National Narrow Gauge Convention, Portland, ME Aug 29-Sep 2, 2007 11/16/06 Update: Sound has been added to Linekin Bay! At the Grand Rail (NCR NMRA convention Oct 06) I found at MTH ocean sound unit for the right price. I hooked it up at the show and one of the visitors suggested mounting it under a wharf, which is what I have done. The sound of the waves and squawking gulls is pretty soothing. Charles Getz did a good clinic on signs so some signs willl be added in the near future. |

| Linekin Bay at the 2005 National Narrow Gauge Convention Having just left the Linekin Bay station, the conductor/driver of Railbus No. 5 waves to his fellow railroaders as they transfer coal from the Maine Central standard gauge gon into two narrow gauge gons for shipment inland.Traffic is light today for the Wiscasset Grain warehouse here in Linekin Bay. Passengers can see the freight house, turntable and the Turner Center creamery on the other side of the harbor. This was taken during the 2005 NNGC when Linekin Bay was displayed as part of a group of HOn30 modules, all with a Maine flavor. |

| More Modules China, Maine and Monson Village modules are planned for the next two years. Click this link to the plan for the Monson Village module and other possible companion quarry modules I plan to build the 2' x4' Monson Village module with the depot, engin house, car house and wood shed. I thank Tom H for these excellent plans. The yard will be compressed but I don't think it will lose its character. Modeling Monson Village will be less time consuming because the car shed, the station and the tool shed are available as kits. Stevens Creek Models is also planning to offer the wood shed as a kit in the next year or two. So the only structure that must be scratchbuilt is the engine house. See the links page for Stevens Creek web page (car house and tool house kits). Hogdon produces the depot. See the links page for that website also. Additional notes to Tom's plan: Note the turnout between the two quarries is labelled "C". This is a Peco N-gauge curved turnout with the through-route at about 36" r and the diverging route (in this case, to the right) at about 18"r. |

| Below is a shot of the China, Maine module. I enlarged the ICC drawing of the station and section house locations from Narrow Gauge in the Sheepscot Valley, Vol. III to HO scale size and taped it to the module. The siding is the 10 car team track and leads to the potato house. The distance between the potato house and the station put it off the module. The two black lines show the location of Wiggins Road (now Pleasant View Road). China Lake would behind the station. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
