| Camping Places Mexico’s uneven landscape means that it has a variety of natural formations such as hills, mountains, valleys, gullies, deserts, rivers, waterfalls and lagoons. This diversity of landscapes and climates offers tourists a wide range of campsites. Suitable camping areas include the arid zones of the Baja California peninsula, Sonora, Chihuahua and Coahuila and the gullies and ravines of Durango and Chihuahua. Alternatively, you can explore parts of the Huasteca region in Tamaulipas, Hidalgo, Puebla and Veracruz; the forests of Campeche and Chiapas, the Neo-volcanic Axis with its impressive mountains, the Pacific Coast with its deserted beaches, and spectacular sites such as the monarch butterfly sanctuary in Michoacán and the tortoise sanctuary in Oaxaca.
