I decided to create this website to benefit both of the Scouting Units in Loogootee, Indiana. In a sense, this is my little contribtion to Boy Scouting in Loogootee. The main purpose of this website is two fold:

Information. This site is intended to let the members of Cub Scout Pack 444 and Boy Scout Troop 484 informed of latest events to come. It also tells of what the units recently did (News Briefs).

Recruiting. With the info on this site, if anyone is interested in what both units do, they can check this site out and, if interested, they can contact the "the powers that be" to join either the Pack or Troop. Hence, this site could be almost referred to as an "Online Boy Scout Recruiting Drive."

Instead of creating a two separate websites for each unit, I decided to have a "consolidated" website, a central site so people (members and non-members alike) can check the happenings with both units. To admit, I am dual registered with both units (which is a good thing).

ABOUT THE PAGES ON THIS SITE
THE INDEX PAGE: A 'gateway' to the internet site. This does have a couple of 'magnets' concerning weather.

THE WELCOME PAGE: The Main Camp of Boy Scouting In Loogootee, Indiana. If there is a Pack or Troop event coming up, a PACK or TROOP or PACK AND TROOP EVENT Alert will be posted 2 weeks before the event (Pack, Troop, District, Council, OA...). The message will be in 'marquee' form. There will be, from time to time, different "led lights" used---Red, Yellow, Green. There is no difference in the reason for the different color of the LED light used. I will change the color of the "light" just for the heck of it. It all depends on my mood.

Access to the PACK 444 CAMPSITE: Shows what Pack 444 is all about, reports any newsbriefs, tells upcomming events, and who are their leaders. The 'ABOUT' page talks of what Pack 444 is all about and tells who is the chartered organization is,who to contact just in case if interested in joining and an external link to the BSA website dealing with the Cub Scout Program. The pack 444 also has a section dealing with the 'DENS' in which tells of what each den is doing (TIGER CUB, WOLF, BEAR, WEBELOS).

Access to the TROOP 484 CAMPSITE: Shows what Troop 484 is all about, reports any newsbriefs, tells upcomming events, and who are their leaders. The 'ABOUT' page talks of what Troop 484 is all about, tells who is the chartered organization is, who to contact just in case if interested in joining, and an external link to the BSA website dealing with the Boy Scout Program. There is also a section dealing with the 'EAGLE SCOUTS' which tells who earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Loogootee with either Troop 84 or Troop 484.

THE LINKS TABLE:
The links table on the 'WELCOME' is divided into two areas. An area dealing with INTERNET SITE INFO pages, which deals with with the Scouting Loogootee website. And a GENERAL SCOUTING INFO which deals with Scouting stuff as well as a couple of non-Scouting stuff, and I will go into detail what each link is all about.

WEBSITE INFO: What you are reading. Telling you what this site is all about.

WEBSITE MAP: Lets you see a list of all of the pages on this site and the pages are set in appropriate places (Pack, Troop, Website).

WEBSITE UPDATES: This site will exprience changes from time to time. It is a basic log of what changes has been done on this site. It may detail some FUTURE PLANS dealing the Website.

WEBMASTER'S INFO: Lets all the readers in on who I am, Scouting-wise (kinda like a Scouting 'resume')

WEBMASTER'S MIND: It is something like a Scoutmaster's Minute, personal inspirations to the Internet user. (I still remember "Mr. P" minutes). There will be archives of them. TRIBUTE TO MOM is my first one.

JOIN-BECOME A MEMBER: Tells how to become a member of either Pack 444, Troop 484, or both.

AMBER ALERT: As a good turn to the youth across the state of Indiana and the nation, I have decided to make a page dealing with the AMBER Alert system. Maybe this will have an impact with the Scouts, Scouters, and non-members (here and abroad) in dealing with abductions. Hopefully, the abducted children mentioned in the alerts can be found and be returned home.

WEATHER: (sheesh, there is another reference to weather.) People do certainly plan their events around the weather. This page will imformation on forecasts, display maps, and so on. The majority of this page is from ouside sources like Accu Weather, WTHI-TV 10 (Terre Haute, Indiana), WEHT-TV 25 (Evansville, Indiana), and Hamweather.com. Please check this page often when planning events.

SPECIAL EVENTS: Lets everyone know of very special events dealing with either Pack 444, Troop 484, or both. Events like 'major' Fundraisers (put on by either units or by and 'outisde' source), Boy Scout Court of Honors, Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquets, combined PACK-TROOP events or DATES OF SCOUTING RECRUITING DRIVES. This page will tell you how a major event is shown on the table.

SCOUTING LINKS: Shows a listing of various Boy Scouting or Boy Scouting-Related sites.

LOOGOOTEE EAGLE SCOUTS: Shows who earned the rank of Eagle Scout with either Troop 84 (which the troop numeral changed to Troop 484) or Troop 484, both of Loogootee, Indiana

OTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS SITE
For historical value, there will be historic photos on this website concerning chartered organizations and meeting place. Kinka cool to see what the buildings 'used' to look like.

Also, the pop-up ads? As of right now, I am using the "free" service on Geocities. One of the disadvantages of "free" hosting of this is the site having pop-up ads. Other than that, Geocities is the only web-hosting site I would strongly recommend.

Also, the names of the youth members of each unit will be omitted due to the protection of the youth.
