I have earned my eagle and also kept my Vigil in the "The Brotherhood of Cheerful Service". My Vigil name is Meeghgalhukquot, which means "The Red-Headed One". I was originally inducted into Kashapawigamak Lodge 191. The totem for this lodge was the Calumet, and I have adopted it as my personal totem. Later, this lodge merged with two neighboring lodges to become Lodge 23 Wenasa Quenhotan, "The Home of the Founder". The boundaries of Wenasa Quenhotan include the home of William Dickson Boyce. After moving several times, I am now a member of Seminole Lodge 85. This page primarily serves to document my credentials. The rest of this site serves as a resource to Scouts and Scouters. It is one way of giving back, both for Gilwell and also for "The Brotherhood of Cheerful Service".
What is it all about? I am not in Scouting to be a "knot hound" . Yes, I do have a few knots that are on my uniform and might add a few more. I wear them not to brag, but to let others know that I do have experience and training. This also can serve as an inspiration to others to achieve these goals or (even better) to surpass them. It is not about adults wrapping themselves in glory but about adults building up the next generation. If we succeed in Scouting, then we will teach our sons to be good leaders and to become men of good character. Meechgalhukquot |
